Atlantic Echo is built on deep expertise in ocean acoustics, signal processing, and marine instrument development — developed through years of research at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Co-Founder & CEO
Dr. Mousavi is an electrical engineer and ocean acoustics researcher specializing in remote sound speed sensing. He holds a background in Electrical Engineering and completed his Ph.D. in Physics and Physical Oceanography at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he developed the core technology behind Atlantic Echo — a novel acoustic approach to estimating ocean sound speed profiles without over-the-side instrument deployment. He has led the company's commercialization journey through the Lab2Market Validate, Lab2Market Launch, and Ocean Startup programs.
Co-Founder & Chief Scientist
Professor Leonard Zedel is a professor in the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography at Memorial University of Newfoundland. With a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, his research spans active and passive acoustic systems for oceanographic measurement, Doppler sonar, sound propagation and scattering, and marine instrument development. Prof. Zedel is a co-inventor of the Atlantic Echo technology and brings decades of academic and applied ocean acoustics expertise to the company's scientific direction.
Atlantic Echo is built on research and intellectual property developed through Memorial University of Newfoundland, supported by the Lab2Market Validate, Lab2Market Launch, and Ocean Startup programs — nationally recognized initiatives focused on market validation, research commercialization, and ocean industry development.
We're looking for strategic partners in ocean technology, hydrographic survey, and sonar systems.
